Although collaboration is one of the three fundamental principals we work by, it is also a powerful tool to affect change. Not just in advertising and marketing, but the change that comes from people working together towards a greater goal. And the goal set forth by Earth Hour 2008 is a goal worth achieving.

And just how much of an impact can turning off your lights for a mere 60 minutes have? Consider this;

Earth Hour: March 31 2007. For one hour, Sydney, Australia made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming — coal-fired electricity — by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city.

In 2008, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. And as of this writing, over 206,000 people and 15,000 businesses have also signed on to do their part.
